Sinn Fein laments resignation of Catholic priest claiming it’s people like him who make the Church “relevant”.
Pro abortion Sinn Fein Party don’t get to lecture Catholics or take the moral high ground.
Sinn Fein party member and Tipperary County councillor, David Dunne has commented on the resignation of Catholic priest Richard Geoghegan from the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore.
Councillor Dunne claimed it was known there have been disagreements between Mr Geoghegan and the Church hierarchy as reported in the Irish Examiner.
"Fr Richard has my one hundred percent support. He's one of the nicest men and is extremely well liked in Carrick," Mr Dunne said.
“It's people like him who will make the Church relevant and who are needed by the Church — not the other way around.”
We find it strange that the Irish Examiner who are owned by the Irish Times would choose a member of the socialist, pro-abortion Sinn Fein Party to be their political point of reference in this story about the resignation of a Catholic parish priest.
Unlike many politicians and political parties who follow culture to stay “relevant” in an attempt to get power, the Catholic Church does not seek to be relevant.
We seek to guide souls to God, not stay relevant. Not staying relevant has been successful for more than two thousand years.
We can only wonder what the Sinn Fein councillor means when he said “It's people like him who will make the Church relevant”.
-We have written to councillor Dunne, asking for some clarifications.
Can we ask for your feedback as to what you mean by making the "Church more relevant"?
In what ways should the Church be more relevant?
Can you elaborate on your statement; "not the other way around".
Can you elaborate on your claim in the Irish Examiner that you were aware of disagreements between Mr Geoghegan and the Church hierarchy?
We await a response.
